Dahn Yoga: Balance and Harmony for your life

Although you might be unaware of the practice, the art of Dahn yoga has become extremely popular around the world with all manner of individuals concerned about their personal fitness. Changing the mind and the body and involving all manner of stretching and breathing techniques that improve the body’s level of energy awareness, Dahn yoga has cemented itself as a strong and healthy practice for those individuals who are interested in improving their overall health. Originally created by Ilchi Lee, the art of yoga is considered to be highly effective and a phenomenal improvement to those who are willing to take the time to exercise and improve their bodies ability to create balance and harmony. 

The traditional name for this type of exercise is Dahn Hak, and, when translated, refers to the study of energy. In the original Korean, the name Dahn refers to the primal energy which is considered to be a part of all life forms and cannot be separated from life. The word Hak, when translated, means the study of any philosophy or theory. By combining the two words, the meaning refers to the study of energy for their own self development and well-being purposes. While this is somewhat of an extremely literal translation, it is a clear indication of what the purpose and idea of yoga it refers to and what the practice of yoga is all about. 

With this intense training regimen, the individual learns to communicate through their bodies with energy, making a jump from good health along to strong mental faculties. With the effort at increasing stimulation and circulation of the body’s energy, the body’s natural healing power is brought to the forefront and begins to recuperate the body, regenerating energy of its own accord. By continuing the exercise over an extended period of time, good health can be enjoyed and the ability for yoga to improve the body can be allowed to go to work. With this effort, the practitioner begins to gain mastery over their bodies and begins to understand the energy referred to as ki. With this extraordinarily fine control of the body’s energy, it is a simple matter to increasingly improve on the overall health of the individual. 

While it is certainly important to focus on physical health, the effort behind yoga goes beyond simple fitness and refers to the balance and harmony in all areas of the individual’s life. With this continued exercise, the individual can improve their life in many areas, including in their career and their family life. The release of burdensome emotions can be a reward all its own for the practitioner of the intense art of yoga. 

With so many highly positive effects, it is not hard to see why yoga has become so popular around the world as more and more individuals become aware of its effect on the body and their relationships with the world and communities as well as nature and friends. With all of these positive benefits, it is only a matter of time before yoga becomes commonplace around the world.
